Save money with easier, smarter software licensing

If you’re like most enterprise customers, you face an ongoing issue in your fight to standardize and minimize the applications that are deployed in your organization. But as you acquire new technology, it’s easy to end up with different versions of the same software—with different licenses—on a variety of systems.

It’s a situation that makes it difficult to streamline software management, control costs and stay compliant. In fact, you might not even know what you need to do to stay compliant with your OEM licensing. That’s because your organization has to use the same version of the software that came on a particular device, making it impossible to standardize unless all your devices came with the same version of the software.

Making it easy to standardize
HP and Corel listened to what customers are saying about their software management needs. Customers told us they’re looking for a way to include a standard version of an application in their desktop image, so they can deploy it across all PC models and platforms, in all territories. And we responded with a discounted Corel® WinDVD® license offer that provides HP customers with a cost-effective way to standardize their various OEM versions of the software.

Here are few examples of how the HP WinDVD Licensing Program has helped customers with common licensing issues:

The problem: purchasing devices over time
Customers often purchase hardware over time, for example, buying 1,000 HP devices today, 200 in a month and 800 more in nine months. Some of these devices may ship with one version of Corel® WinDVD®, while the rest arrive with a later version of the software. The customer wants one version for the desktop image, but cannot standardize across the 2,000 devices without purchasing volume licensing. Meanwhile the devices are only licensed for the version that’s installed on them.

The solution
With the HP WinDVD Volume Licensing Program, a customer can standardize on one build of the software at a huge discount—up to 50% off—making the most of their original investment.

The problem: managing multiple versions of software
Customer A purchases approximately 500 computers a month and currently has 12,000 systems, including HP and Lenovo models. This customer is running five different versions of WinDVD across the organization. Due to this complex situation, the Desktop Manager is investing too much time and too many resources in trying to keep the company compliant.

The solution
By purchasing 12,000 licenses of WinDVD through the HP WinDVD Volume Licensing Program, the Desktop Manager can provide one build that can be deployed across all PC models, platforms and regions. It can be easily managed throughout the organization with one Enterprise key.

The problem: different desktop images
A customer that buys devices from different vendors, for example, 1,000 from HP, 600 from Dell and 300 from Toshiba, can end up managing at least three unique desktop images. Most customers want to streamline software management and reduce costs by having one standard image that can be deployed across the organization.

The solution
With the HP WinDVD Volume Licensing Program, customers can standardize on one build even across their non-HP devices at a huge discount.

Choose the right option for your business
HP customers who want to streamline software management across the organization can choose a Standard or Premium licensing program from Corel.

The Standard option is for customers who want to standardize their HP devices on one WinDVD build that’s still tied to the hardware.

The Premium option is the right choice for customers who want to standardize all their devices on one WinDVD build without being tied to the hardware. This option provides perpetual licenses that can be transferred among devices and remain with the enterprise even after the devices are retired. The Premium package also comes with Upgrade Protection and full enterprise support. Premium customers can also add licenses as needed and true-up upon their renewal. This option provides complete flexibility for the enterprise.  Learn more about the Corel/HP Licensing Program.

What about re-imaging?
In the past, WinDVD OEM licenses didn’t include re-imaging rights. These OEM licenses had to be physically reloaded on each device separately. This wasn’t an effective solution for enterprise customers who needed to centrally manage their licenses. HP and Corel have recognized this need and now provide full re-imaging rights for HP customers.

If your organization requires these extended re-imaging and central management rights, please contact WinDVD@corel.com. Corel will create a simple agreement to provide your organization with these rights free of charge.
